The Norwegian Olympic team woke up to 15,000 eggs on their doorstep after making an order using Google Translate in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

The Norwegian Olympic team got an egg-citing surprise when they received 15,000 eggs from a local distributor in Pyeongchang – 10 times more than they planned to order.
The team’s chefs blamed a translation mistake for the mix-up.
The team apparently placed the order using Google translate and accidentally added an extra 0 to their order.
But, according to the team’s chefs, they weren’t egg-ceptionally bothered by the mistake.
“They will probably use them, I guess,” said Norwegian chef de mission Tore Øvrebø.
“Maybe the people that supplied us with them will take them back I don’t know. It’s not a big issue.”
Since this story broke, the Norwegian team has replied that they were able to return the egg-cess eggs so the players could enjoy a more varied menu.

DON’T WHISK IT: WORK WITH REAL HUMAN TRANSLATORS

While this little mix-up wasn’t a big deal for the Norwegian Olympic team, it could well be for any small or medium business. After all, ordering 10x more than what you needed can have serious repercussions.
So, remember: don’t make an egg of yourself. Always choose human translators over machine translation.
